CLC Theology and Religious Studies Grant

The CLC Theology and Religious Studies Grant supports individuals engaged in academic studies and/or ministerial formation within theology, religious studies, pastoral care, or diaconia. The purpose of the grant is to strengthen theological education, especially Lutheran studies, and practice for the benefit of our member churches, chaplaincy, ecumenical partnerships, and wider society. If you are interested in applying for this grant, please contact enquiries@lutheran.org.uk

Priorities

While a wide range of programmes and courses are eligible, the following priorities guide the selection process:

  • Academic postgraduate theological studies (Master’s, PhD, or equivalent) are prioritised, but applicants at other levels of study may also be considered if their application meets the overall objectives.
  • Impact of studies or research: the potential contribution to CLC member churches, chaplaincies, ecumenical cooperation, and/or the wider community.
  • Feasibility of completion: the student’s ability to complete the programme successfully.
  • Connection with the CLC: applicants should be active members of a CLC member church, engaged with the CLC chaplaincy, or closely involved in the work of the CLC and its partners.
  • Academic standing of the institution: priority will be given to programmes offered by recognised and reputable universities or theological institutions.
  • Focus on Lutheranism: preference will be given to studies and research directly related to Lutheran theology, Lutheran church history, or other areas of particular relevance to Lutheran identity and mission.
